A DAMAGED LOCK on the Kennet & Avon Canal is allowing spring tides to affect the canal.
Kelston Lock gates were damaged when a boat caught fire in the lock recently, Keith Gudgin reports.
Boaters are being warned by Canal & River Trust that the section of the Avon between Hanham Lock 1 and Keynsham Lock 2 will be affected by Spring tides and levels in this section will fluctuate in the coming days to between three and five feet from current levels.
Moor above the lock
With boaters advised to moor above Keysham Lock as that pound will not be affected.
Boaters should also take the level of fluctuation into account when mooring and not moor in the river.
The boat fire occurred on the 27th of August.
