IF AN APPLICATION is successful it would see 28 large homes by the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Barnoldswick.

A mix of detached and semi-detached, built on what is grassland at present, Janet Friend reports.

LLDevelopmentAlong the pound

These will be situated along the pound between Greenberfield and Barnoldswick locks.

The houses are somewhat large comprising of up to six bedroom properties, along an extensive length of canal. The image is an artist's impression by Pendle Council.

But owing to the steep slope to the waterway some of the properties will be built over a split level, with gardens running down to the waterway.

Terraced

These gardens will be terraced owing to the steepness of the slope. If planning permission is granted work will start later this year.

The trees lining the canal, it is stated, will at least be kept.
