A MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT is planned for Pomona Island by Peel Waters.
The island is between the Bridgewater Canal and Manchester Ship Canal.
It is proposed to construct up to 2,600 homes in up to 35 storeys high buildings on the long vacant 25 acres land between the two waterways, west of Manchester City Centre.
Riverside park
In addition to the homes, the project proposes a 200 beds hotel, 750,000 sq ft of office space and shops and the like and significant acres of public open space, including a five acres riverside park.
The regeneration of Pomona island is part of the Manchester Waters masterplan.
There has been a four years pause, but now Peel Waters is putting its plan to public consultation.
