THE LOCKSIDE CAFÉ in Grindley Brook, near Whitchurch has lost many boaters owing to the breach on the Llangollen Canal.

LocksideCafeGringleyBrookSo is hoping to make up for this with cyclists, Janet Friend reports.

Lost up to 70% of customers

It has started a cycling club at the café in the hope of attracting more customers after the owner tells it lost up to 70% of its trade due to the closure of the Llangollen Canal following the breach at Christmas.

A great deal of its regular trade was from boaters, but these are now few and far between, so the idea of a cycling club to make up for the loss seemed a good idea.

So a cycling club stepped, with its inaugural cycle club day taking place on this Saturday 7th February. The café will be cyclist friendly, with a quick service, safe bike parking and a welcome atmosphere we are told.

Can book food and drink

Cyclists can book food and drink by calling Jane or Rachel on 01948 663385.

The café is open every day from 9am to 3pm and is located along the A41 just outside Whitchurch.
