Great Open Day at Clayworth

Flight open—then closed again

OWING  to pollution, the Northampton Flight of the Grand Union Canal was closed to navigation on Sunday (2nd),  then re-opened the following day.

'No Entry' is there for a reason

THIS morning two, obviously not too sensible, boaters decided to ignore the rather large  'No Entry' signs on the Trent by Sawley Lock and take a cruise up river towards the weir—and became well and truly stuck!

Mostly litter for nest

SUCH is the amount of litter in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Blackburn, that it has killed natural growth with t5he result that the swans can only build their nests mostly out of rubbish.

Man knocked into canal

A walker on the road at Swarkstone by the Trent & Mersey Canal yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) was struck by a vehicle  involved in a crash and knocked into the canal.

What hope for the bridge?

THOUGH not built for the traffic of today, Bishopton Bridge on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal has become a rat-run for traffic, and with 500 new homes being built nearby, will hardly stand the pounding.
