FOUR Open Days are scheduled for this winter, where members of the public—and boaters—can go down into locks to inspect their workings.
With Canal & River Trust explaining that its skilled teams and volunteers protect canals all year round. But in winter some incredible feats of engineering take place. Now is your chance to see canals as you never have before.
Chance to visit
This winter we're offering you the chance to visit one of our Open Days and learn more about how we repair and care for canals.
Set foot where visitors aren't usually allowed and explore the bottom of a drained lock. Or watch our specialist teams at work as they restore heritage features and monitor the wildlife and habitats our canals support. You'll also meet our experts and volunteers to hear more about the important work we do to.
The open days
Leeds River Lock Open Day on Saturday 30th November from 10am to 2pm.
Caen Hill Locks Open Day on 8th February 2025 10:30am to 4:00pm.
Open day at Kidderminster. (No details at present.)
Hatton Locks Open Day 15th February 10:30am to 4:00pm.
