THE LACK OF RAINFALL is causing problems to many waterways.
With canals being closed, Keith Gudgin reports.The latest two yesterday, Wednesday were the now usual Erewash Canal together with the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
The Erewash is closed between Stanton Lock 65 to Hallam Fields Lock 66, with its water too low for navigation.
Vandalism
The :Leeds & Liverpool is closed due to lack of water in the pounds between locks 66 and 85. This time we are told vandalism is the cause—on all 19 locks!
There is little that this continuing drought is going to cause more problems, with boaters advised to check their routes.
