WITH the ice now gone, the hardy boaters are able to move once again after being frozen-in for weeks, but there's a warning from our Ralph Freeman.

Having words with British Waterways men clearing vegetation he was told that some stoppages have had to be postponed for a few weeks on the Trent & Mersey Canal, and advises:

"I would suggest anyone planning a trip, in the next few weeks, should check their route with BW beforehand. Given the frozen state of the system for the last six weeks it's not surprising BW is having to re-think it's stoppage plans for the next 10 weeks or so.

This of course would apply to any of the stoppages.
