We recently started to work up the Bosley locks following another private boat, but we got as far as the second lock and found that in front of the boat in front of us were two hire boats from a local hire fleet on the Macclesfield.
Boat one in a lock had gates open no water in sight. Boat two in pound before Lock 3 three with rapidly falling water level, and both locks with all paddles up, all blaming each other.
Both crews said they had little or no instruction on how locks work!
Fortunately two British Waterways employees arrived, and after about a two hour delay all back afloat and under way. Thankfully water levels appear to have survived.
