WHITE Mills Marina on the Nene at Earls Barton is now officially open and will be hosting an Open Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday.
This forthcoming Open Weekend Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April from 10am until 4pm we are told will be very different from the previous ones the marina has hosted, as boaters and boating enthusiasts will be able to walk around the site and see for themselves exactly what the new marina has to offer.
All services
The new 141 berth marina can accommodate wide beams, narrowboats and cruisers and features all the normal services that are expected.
Work developing the site began at the beginning of July last year, and the amount of interest in the new marina on the Nene has been welcomed by resident Marina Manager Chris Dixon, (pictured with Wendy) who took up his role in September and has since been overseeing its development, telling us:
Keen interest
"It is great to see the first phase of White Mills is now complete; we are in a position to provide safe and secure moorings for boats and at the same time offer boaters a wide range of services direct to their moorings. The marina is looking fantastic, we have had some really keen interest and I am now looking forward to establishing White Mills as a premier marina for those boaters looking to visit Northamptonshire and particularly the Nene which has so much to offer."
"We are very proud of what has been created at White Mills and we are now looking forward to welcoming guests and establishing a friendly community here in Earls Barton."
Local facilities
Easily accessed via the A45, White Mills Marina is just a short walk from the delightful and historic village of Earls Barton which boasts a butcher, baker, pharmacy, library, post office, Co-op, two pubs, takeaways, several hairdressers, vintage shop, florists, and a farm shop.
Phase Two which is the development of a facilities building is hoped to get underway later in the Summer and once completed it will feature a dedicated function room and coffee shop, which will be available not just to boaters but also the wider community.
