THE Macclesfield Canal was re-opened over the week-end after the affected pound was re-filled, with boats allowed to go though

It was the 20th May when a breach in the canal at Bollington was first reported, but the difficulty of access has caused the resulting stoppage to take three weeks, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No problems

Late last week the pound was being slowly filled, with no problems, and so the waterway was re-opened over the week-end.

Contractors however are remaining on site to finish off, with Canal & River Trust on hand to give out information for those without internet access.

The Trust thanks boaters for their patience with this stoppage and thanks the contractors for finishing it quickly under difficult conditions.
