A DRIVER, arrested under the suspicion of drink driving discovered his vehicle would not float when he drove straight into the Grand Union Canal at Little Venice.
The three people in the vehicle had a very lucky escape when it completely sank into the water, Roger Fox tells us.
Took off tiller
The 4x4 smashed through the railings straight into the canal, narrowly missing three boats that were breasted-up, though it did take off the tiller of one.
The driver and two passengers managed to clamber out of the vehicle before the emergency services arrived, with the 22 years old driver arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving.
Police enquiries are ongoing.
