THE Top Lock (90) on the Hanwell Flight  is 'under observation' with its width reduced, according to Canal & River Trust.

The lock wall is 'damaged', but is  however still open for use, Keith Gudgin tells us.

He asks if this is going to be 'another Wolverhampton 21' (Wolverhampton 21 lock failure) where a wall caved in and it took two months to repair.

With the information given that the lock width is reduced, it points to a cave-in.
