AS IS fairly well known we do not report on the myriad of awards given out by all and sundry, but a Queen's Award is indeed worthy of reporting.
Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal Trust has been presented with a Queens Award for voluntary service in the restoration of the Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal.
Restore the 34 miles
The volunteers are working to restore the 34 miles of canal between Hereford and Gloucester. The Trust was first formed in 1983 and has since worked on the restoration of the waterway and its 23 locks, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Two representatives of the Trust, David Penny and Maggie Jones, were presented with the award at a garden party at Buckingham Palace in the presence of the Queen.
