THE Barrowford Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
The stoppage was caused by the failure of Lock 46 on the flight, and it has been discovered that the concrete on the tail gates has lifted and needs replacing, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Removed
This means the lock and pound will need to be de-watered, after which the concrete will be removed and fresh concrete inserted.
The notice from Canal & River Trust states that it will be in a better position to estimate the duration of the stoppage when this is completed.
