THE POUND IN NOW OPEN that was closed on the Erewash Canal through lack of water.
But is now reopened, Keith Gudgin reports.
This was the pound between Stanton Lock 65 to Hallam Fields Lock, but is still low in water.
Closed to general navigation
In view of this Canal & River Trust has decreed that it will 'be closed to general navigation'.
Meaning that boaters wanting to use the pound must first book passage.
The trust believing this will help the navigation in the long term.
